Evangelism. That one word carries a lot of meaning for many Christians. For some, sharing their faith and the hope they in have in Jesus is easy. They love to tell family, friends, and complete strangers why they need Jesus in their lives. However, for others, that word conjures up emotions like fear, dread, and anxiety. It’s not that those people don’t feel others need Jesus, they are just fearful of the process of sharing their faith. Sadly, too many Christians find themselves in this latter category. In this series titled, Tell Someone, we will seek to understand evangelism, and learn some best practices, so we can each share our faith.

The Apostle Paul and his companion Silas found themselves arrested and thrown into a holding cell in the city of Philippi. That night, as they prayed and sang hymns to God, the earth shook, the jail doors flew open, and the shackles fell off. Despite this chance at freedom, neither Paul and Silas, nor any of the other prisoners escaped. Their actions spared the life of the jailer, both physically and spiritually. Their actions and words that day told this jailer the gospel of Jesus. From this story, we will learn some ways we too can tell someone about Jesus.

Make disciples was Jesus’ command to all His followers right before He ascended into heaven. However, many of us look at that call and feel unworthy. We feel that we are unprepared. We feel that the task is too big and the consequences to great to do this ourselves. However, Jesus often chose what society would call the unworthy. It is through those “unworthy” disciples that Jesus changed the world. Regardless of how you feel about yourself, you have been called by Jesus, to tell someone the good news of the gospel.
